Curriculum

This is everything that the children experience in nursery school. Children learn through play, which can be spontaneous or directed by adults. Staff plan the curriculum around the seven areas of learning specified by the Early Years Foundation Curriculum working through developmental levels towards the Early Learning Goals in:

* Communication and language
* Physical development
* Personal/Social/Emotional devlopment
* Maths
* Literacy
* Understanding of the World
* Expressive Arts and Design

Planning and delivery of the curriculum takes account of children’s specific needs and so all children are able to work towards the Early Learning Goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. While doing this they develop positive attitudes to learning and acquire appropriate skills, concepts, knowledge and attitudes.

Copies of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum are available in Nursery on request.

Planning is on display within children's rooms and parents are invited to contribute to termly planning meetings.

Pupil Profiles

Staff monitor and record the work undertaken by pupils on a regular basis. These assessments help to build up a picture of the child’s progress during their year in nursery.

Each child has a profile which will be shared with you during Parent Partnership Sessions (3 times a year) and this will go with them to their next school.
